Join us for Holy Week
Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service
If you came to Lessons and Carols in December and were moved by the scriptures and the music, you will love Maundy Thursday. In the Lessons and Carols service, we heard about the plan for the coming Messiah from Genesis through the prophets to the manger in Bethlehem. Now for Maundy Thursday, we will hear of the plan of salvation recounting the events of the final week of Jesus’ life leading to the cross and the tomb. As each scripture is read and the choir sings, a candle is extinguished and the church becomes darker. After all seven candles are out, we sit in darkness contemplating the events of that week. 7:00 p.m. March 28th |
The Great Easter Vigil
Resuming where Maundy Thursday left off, we begin this service in darkness with only the Christ candle and our own candles giving light. The Exultet is sung: “This is the night, when all who believe in Christ are delivered from the gloom of sin and are restored to grace and holiness of life.” Then Easter bursts through with lights, bells, and alleluias! Music will be provided by Keven Keys, singing "The Trumpet Shall Sound" from Handel’s Messiah accompanied by trumpet and organ. We will all together renew our Baptismal vows, receive the Holy Eucharist and end the service singing “Christ the Lord is Risen Today!” Alleluia! Great Easter Vigil - 9:00 p.m. March 30th |
Easter Morning - Alleluia, Christ is Risen! Our Easter celebration will complete our Lenten journey and our intense week-long immersion in the death of Christ for our salvation. Now we celebrate the RESURRECTION! “He is not here! Christ the Lord is Risen” EASTER SUNDAY - 10:30 a.m. March 31st (no Adult Education at 9:30) |
Grace Anglican Fellowship is a gathering of people from all walks of life and denominational backgrounds who meet on Sunday mornings in Lake Forest, Illinois for the traditional Anglican service of worship and communion (Eucharist) and on Wednesday mornings and evenings for Morning/Evening Prayer and Eucharist.
Led by Fr. Alan Heatherington and Fr. Thomas Spahn, our gatherings represent traditional Church values in an atmosphere of loving fellowship.
